The Watering Room (2017)
TRT: 33 minutes
Director: Katya Yakubov
When a bureaucrat interrogates an old woman about a piece of property she owns, the seemingly straightforward dynamic begins to break down his identity and the stability of the narrative itself. Based on Russian fairy tales' infamous Baba Yaga, and mixing elements of horror, surrealism, and theater, the film questions why we take pleasure in the perverse, and how the boundaries of guilt can be actively re-written.
